Fitness Marketing

Fitness marketing or fitness training? Many fitness trainers sometimes wonder if they have actually signed on to be fitness marketers instead of trainers. Building a fitness business requires constant care. Great marketing strategies generate the clients you need to run a successful business.

Many fitness trainers mistakenly feel they have all the training necessary to make it big – except experience and know-how when it comes to marketing strategies. This one missing factor can be the downfall of the entire business. In order to build a quality business and offer quality services you must first build a loyal client list – generated from successful fitness marketing strategies.

Be the First Choice

Your goal must be to become the first choice. When a client is looking for fitness he or she must immediately think of your name. To do this the target market must constantly be reminded that you are the go-to trainer for weight loss, getting fit, pain relief, after care, marathon training, and more. Once this happens you will become the foremost choice.

Select Your Clients

Do not make the mistake of going after every client. Develop a target market of the type of clients you think will benefit from your programming. Then, aggressively go for these customers.

Anyone in your local area can be your client. Moreover, as you gain recognition more and more clients will come to you. Before this puts you in a situation where you have to offer more programming than you originally planned or are spread too thin target your clients.

Out of the limitless potential clients, narrow the choice down to a few targeted, very specific, niche markets. Spend your efforts going after these clients with information marketing. For example, to if you previously worked as a real estate agent speak with a group of local realtors and develop a package just for them. If you play golf develop a golf package just for golfers. Your knowledge and understanding will strike a chord with potential clients.

Welcome Them In

The next step in successful fitness marketing, after developing niche markets is leveraging.

Leveraging is an excellent fitness marketing technique that utilizes current clients to build your business. It is like compound interest: earning money on the principal balance and the interest.

There are many leverage options in the fitness arena. You can ask new clients for the names of friends, have a contest to bring in new clients, and any other technique that works for your business. The important thing to remember is that the focus is ‘leveraging’ off your existing clients to create new, targeted leads.

Flourish

The third step is to make your business flourish. This step involves growing your business using word of mouth advertising, referrals, and repeat business.

This last step is independent of the other two and can be started the very first day. Every time you meet a person or talk with anyone see it as an opportunity for fitness marketing. When clients begin to know who you are repay them in kind with respect and care. Going the extra mile for your clients will do wonders for your business – possibly more than any other technique, and you usually will not even realize you are putting forth extra effort!
