The Magic of ABM!

I get lots of mail from lots of different sources.  I make it a point to be on as many mailing lists as possible so I can see what others are doing.

This is just one of the ways, but a very important one, that I bring real value to you.  See, I’m not restricted by tunnel vision within the fitness industry.  I’m able to take effective marketing systems from other industries and apply them to the fitness industry.

And that’s how breakthroughs occur.

Because if you’re too focused on just your industry, you develop myopia and marketing incest creeps in.  That’s when everyone within one industry is copying everyone else, and this process “dumbs-down” the creativity, resulting in declining results.

What I want to tell you about is a letter I just got in the mail from a company I’ve been watching since 1989.

In fact, it was this company from which I learned one of my most valuable marketing secrets way back in the day.

I’ve bought some stuff from them, but it’s been many years since my last purchase.

However, I’m still on their mailing list, which is interesting and instructive in itself.

This company, which is run by a husband and wife in Kansas, has succeeded in growing their business from a small, homebased operation doing about $10,000 per month when I first met them, to many hundreds of thousands of dollars per month now.

In fact, in the letter I just received, they talk about how they have done over $50 million in business in the last 14 years.

Pretty impressive.  Particularly considering that both of them are just high school graduates, the husband is a former carpet cleaner and the wife has MS.

There are many “secrets” to their success, but I would say that one of them, perhaps the biggest one, is this:

THE MAGIC OF ABM!

ABM stands for Always Be Marketing.

I get two to three different offers each month from this company.

They are always testing different offers, different copy, different headlines, etc.

If you’re not marketing, the cash flow can dry up fast.

And, as you know, cash flow is what keeps you in business.

It sounds so simplistic – almost trite – but it is the gospel truth: you must always be marketing.

When you create offers, with specific deadlines and begin presenting them to your SOI on a regular basis, you will be shocked and amazed by the cash flow surge into your business.

I can’t overemphasize this point strongly enough.

The key, of course, is creating compelling offers.

If you are (still) just telling people who you are, what you do and where you’re located, don’t expect them to rush to call you up and buy.

It won’t happen.

But when you make irresistible offers, regularly and frequently, to your best clients and prospects, with clearly defined deadline dates…

…you WILL see a dramatic increase in business.

ALWAYS BE MARKETING.

You have to get in the game.
